Target Spanish for Elementary
at Sherwood, Lakewood, Britt David, and Mulberry Creek
- 4/23

We're running through our workbooks one more time as an end of the year refresher and/or to allow some students to earn their completion awards in time for the end of the year. Many students in our 3 counties have already earned their prizes and have been awarded with a new workbook free of charge to continue their learning. All students will be tested on small amounts of subject-matter from now through May. They're doing great, and I'm proud of our work this year!

French II Tutoring - 9/24

14 point improvement between tests due to improvement in systematizing the language. This next week you will prove whether you can add new information to the system on your own.

    Speaking/Listening - Ecoute! (*E)

Reading/Writing - Les tests pour pratiquer
(Note: Different activities on the same page are listed below separated by a comma.)

1st. Emily received a new comp book today in which she will build her very own French II study guide. She learned today our system to divide and conquer by separating her vocabulary and concepts from each chapter into 2 separate parts of the comp book. She will continue tonight using this comp book to input her Chapter 1 vocabulary using 3 colors of ink for titles, main words, and emphasis. I'll see y'all next Tuesday and Wednesday at 4 pm.

2nd. Emily has proven her ability to decipher what is most important to her own understanding about the concepts and to glean for vocabulary from each section of her text and from the instructor while class is in session in our closed tutoring environment. I expect her subsequent vocabulary tests to range from 85-100 if she will maintain this system. Vocabulary is about 80% of the overall ballgame in the French I and II levels, so her improvement in vocabulary acquisition as well as systematically recording concepts in her comp book will likewise yield an improvement in overall test scores. This same system can be applied to all 101/1000 level courses in college due to the nature of vocabulary and concept acquisition being the primary learning focus.

3rd. I'm holding open a final session for Emily on 10/2 at 4 pm in hopes of solidifying our process on vocabulary and concepts and ensuring that she has progress on her own volition during her class time with her comp book. I will follow up on Tuesday next week.
